[WEEKEND READS] where I'm FINALLY moving on to my next read!

current reads.
Hello,

This week was quite good. Life isn't as stressful as before and I finally found my reading time -- my commute to work. Not the best one but it's my only chance to read without falling asleep. Also, unexpectedly, NEED by Joelle Charbonneau brought me out of my slump. It wasn't a very great read but it's thrilling and that kept me reading.

I hope I continue to finish more books in the next few days :)

recent reads

NEED | Joelle Charbonneau
Finished this just a few hours. Done with the reading slump, I guess?
ANYWAY, I really wanted to like NEED. It was thrilling and the mystery really kept me going. And literally, it's the only thing that kept me reading. I wanted to put it down because the multiple-POV here isn't working for me (and I LOVE multiple-POVs, so why?), and I'm mad at the shallowness of these kids, and I HATE the reason for 'NEED'. This novel is just a big flat NO for me. BUT it might work for others. who knows? Review will be up soon~

current reads

The Nightingale | Kristin Hannah
Still. I know. I KNOW. But I will finish this soon. I just can't find enough time to read physical books lately. I'm like 300-somethings pages now. So patience. I AM loving this book just so you know. I learned a few more things about WWII which is great. And Isabelle is such a brave heroine and Vianne is also brave in her own way. I'm also very, very curious of how it will go from the WWII setting to its 1995 setting. Also, the romance! -- it's just a tiny part but still...

next reads

Station Fosaan (Torch World series #1) | Dee Garretson
I was invited by the publisher for a blog tour. They were like: oh here's a scifi novel set in a different planet, there might be romance, and rules that obviously the main character won't follow, and maybe some kind of uprising. And I'm like: hmmm... sounds like my thing. count me in! (well not really. but ya know me... I like scifi and book series with rebellion and stuff... so yeah...).

Revival | Stephen King
ohlook, I'm reading this book again!
I borrowed Revival late 2016 so I can read it over the holidays but I ended up reading my books so... yeah. I brought it back to the library without even finishing it. SO NOW, I got it back and I'm going to continue it!! --right after I finish The Nightingale though (which is sooooooon. I tell you.. sooon).
Revival is my first Stephen King novel. And while I don't find his writing anything special #expectations, I think that the story of the novel is far is very interesting even though it feels cliche or something. I think that there's just something I don't even know how to explain about how Stephen King just made this story out of the ordinary. I hope I'll have the words to write review for this one once I'm done. I hope...

anime marathon

I wasn't able to watch Shirobako this week but I got into Nanbaka which is super great!

Nanbaka | Satelight
I jumped into this anime thinking that it's purely comedy and just some chill anime I can watch but I was stand corrected. Of course, Nanbaka is super funny especially with the references from other series but around episode 4 or 5, an arc about the main character, Juugo (Uemura Yuto), is finally opened and I'm curious.

HOW ABOUT YOU
What books did you recently finish? What are you currently reading? What do you plan to pick up next? Any new faves?
Bonus! Are you watching anime right now? What is it? What do you think of it? Like it? Hate it? Do you recommend it?

let's connect!

  1. I am huge Stephen King fan but I havent read Revival yet so I cannot tell whether it is a good novel or not when you are trying Stephen King for the first time. I have tons of other books by him that I could recommend you, though LOL
Anyway, Revival is on my to-read for 2017 so I look forward to hear your thoughts on it!

    1. I've read half of Revival and somehow loved it. Wasn't able to finish it before so I'm jumping right back to it now. I'm not exactly sure if I'll be able to gather my thoughts for this one though. But I'll try :D
Would love to know what Stephen King books you recommend. I have Mr.Mercedes on my tbr right now and not yet sure when I'll get to it. And I'm also eyeing The Shining and 11/22/63.

  2. Yay for breaking out of the slump!! I hope you can stay out of it for a while.

I've just started reading Stalking Jack the Ripper and I'm loving it! After that I need to pick up a yet undecided review novel.

As for anime I'm not watching any right now. I haven't had time to start a new series since One Punch Man.

    1. Thanks, Bec :) I've been hoping to get my hands on Stalking Jack the Reaper. I've read really good things about it. Hope you enjoy it! Also, I'd love to read your thoughts on it.
I haven't actually watched One Punch Man because its popularity just scares me. I'm just too wary over popular series.

  3. I loved The Nightingale, it was one of my favourite books of last year! The most recent anime I watched was Amanchu! but the next anime I really want to watch is the third season of Haikyuu!

    1. I'm roughly around 60% of it and really loving it. It has several moments that almost made me cry also it gave me a good amount of new knowledge on WWII. I finished S3 of Haikyuu! early this year and really enjoyed it! especially the focus and development on Tsukishima. I hope you enjoy it as well. Really waiting for S4 now!! :D

  4. Yay for ending the slump! Sorry NEED didn't entirely work for you, I liked it but I know a lot of people had problems with it, including the multitude of POV's. I think I liked the IDEA of the book so I may have given it a pass in some ways. :) Look forward to your full review. It's been about a year since I read it so I might be a little fuzzy.

Have a great rest of the week!

    1. The idea was really good and I can honestly imagine this as a movie (especially that ending). Will definitely have my review up before the month ends. Thanks, Greg :)
